Porcelain Patios
Crisp, low-maintenance porcelain laid to an exacting finish.
Crisp, low-maintenance porcelain laid to an exacting finish.
Porcelain is the modern choice for a clean, contemporary patio that stays looking new. Dimensionally stable, stain-resistant and frost-proof — but only as good as the preparation underneath. We lay porcelain on a primer-bonded full mortar bed for a finish that won't lift, rock or stain.

Why porcelain?
Porcelain barely fades, doesn't absorb stains the way natural stone can, and stays dimensionally stable through frost cycles. It's ideal where you want a sharp, contemporary look and low ongoing maintenance.

Why preparation matters more
Porcelain is unforgiving. Any voids under a slab will show as movement or cracking. We use a slurry primer on the back of every slab and a full wet mortar bed — never spot or dot-and-dab bedding.

Detailing
We finish with matching bullnose copings, downstand steps and recessed lighting where it adds something. Joints are tight, lines are kept square, and cuts are made with a wet saw for clean edges.

Courtyard porcelain terrace, Beaconsfield
- The brief
- A new-build courtyard with a flat, lifeless slab patio and no drainage fall — water pooling against the bi-folds after every shower.
- What we did
- Lifted the existing slabs, dug to depth for a properly compacted MOT sub-base, primed and laid 900×600 grey porcelain on a full mortar bed with planned 1:80 falls to a new channel drain at the lawn edge.
- The result
- A crisp, square terrace that drains cleanly, holds its colour, and ties the kitchen extension into the garden.

FAQs
Porcelain or sandstone?+
Porcelain for low maintenance, sharp lines and consistent colour. Sandstone for warmth, character and a more traditional feel. We'll talk through both for your home.
Does porcelain need sealing?+
No. That's one of its main advantages.
Will it crack?+
Not when laid on a properly compacted sub-base with a full mortar bed and primer. Cracks almost always trace back to voids or movement underneath.
